Leadership Gilroy (Class of 2004) and Bonfante
Gardens’ Board of Directors treat all fourth graders
from Gilroy Unified School District (more than 1,000 students
in all) to a FREE private day at Bonfante Gardens
Family Theme Park, a non-profit organization managed by Paramount
Parks. Jr. Horticulture Day is a day supporting
community education where students have the opportunity to take
part in educational activities taught by teachers, Bonfante Gardens
docents and Gilroy High School students. Activities include Plant
Labeling, a Garden Scavenger Hunt, Rock Experiment, the Water
Cycle and the educational Music Market Show on the Red & White
Stage. Students will also learn about the elements specific
to Bonfante Gardens, including the creation of the Circus Trees.
Leadership Gilroy, a community group whose main focus is community
education, hosted a Bowl-a-Thon and raised more than $10,000 to
support this event. The Bonfante Gardens Board of Directors extended
the reach by inviting students from both public and private schools
within Gilroy Unified School District, bringing the total number
of participants to more than 1,000 students. |
